Emily Fraser

Emily is a London based ceramic artist who has recently graduated from BA (Hons) Ceramic Design at Central Saint Martins in 2026.

Her practice explores her experience of femininity through hand-built ceramic vessels, which are shaped by the intimate relationship she shares with clay, the material personified, understood, and engaged with as inherently feminine.

Emily's exploration of abundance and form begins with the women who embody it. The vessels are directly influenced by the body, featuring soft, sweeping lines and billowing bellies.

Each piece is hand-built from white stoneware clay with added grog. By glazing only the interior, Emily preserves the raw texture of the clay, retaining the movement and marks embedded through the making process. A muted palette of freckled, mottled, and speckled glazes, inspired by the subtle variations of skin, evoking the body without directly depicting it.
