Tiggy Phelps

Tiggy is a recent graduate from Brighton University whose paintings explore the distortion of memory and emotional disconnect and reflect broader themes of alienation, ambiguity and the emotional instability of familiar places.

Recurring motifs are seen throughout her work - fence posts, street lights, trees, birds, vents and empty architecture - acting as a visual language that is representative of memories and experiences that are immediately recognisable.

Using these motifs, Tiggy blurs the boundaries of personal and collective experience, which, together with a restricted colour palette, creates a space where certainty is continuously questioned and fragmented.
